Community Engagement
The community engagement committee is a team of first year EcoReps, who are passionate about sustainability and making a difference in their community. The committee is led by two Community Engagement Coordinators, both of which are upperclass students.
Mission
The Community Engagement Committee (CEC) is a group of students within the first year EcoReps course that are dedicated to improving sustainability and environmental equity both at the University of Rochester and in the surrounding city of Rochester. This committee provides first year students with an excellent opportunity to get off campus and explore how the surrounding community works to promote a sustainable city.
Partners
CEC partners with sustainable organizations in the Rochester area to provide students with local enrichment opportunities where they are given the freedom to actively meet and engage with members of the community while supporting the mission of partner organizations. Organizations CEC has worked with in the past include: Taproot Collective, The M.K Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, Cornell Cooperative Extension and The Rochester Ecology Partners.
