What are committees?

Students are broken into committees of their choice to complete designated projects throughout the semester. The goal of the committees is to provide the first year students with the opportunity to be involved in a sustinable initiative either on campus or in the Rochester Community. By working in committees, students have the ability to garner new skills and work with a team of like minded peers.

Community Engagement

The Community Engagement Committee partners with organizations in Rochester that have similar goals regarding sustainability. Committee members volunteer at partner hosted events and work on deliverables that benefit our partners, as well as advance their knowledge on sustainabl topics.

Zero Waste

The Zero Waste Committee works with the University of Rochester’s Waste Minimization Specialist to reduce waste on our campus and educate peers on recycling through events hosted by EcoReps and other environmental organizations.

Gardening

The Gardening Committee is responsible for maintaining the Gilbert Garden and planting location appropriate crops. The committee also does research on what plants are best fit for the Rochester environment and techniques to grow a thriving community garden.
